MANAGING CANCER DIAGNOSIS, TREATMENT AND RECOVERY

MANAGE . HEAL . REBUILD

There is a lot of good information available to help after a cancer diagnosis and during treatment, from professionals like doctors, nurses and physios as well as cancer organisations. Some of it helps in understanding diagnosis and what that means. Some of it explains the different treatments, side effects and outcomes for different grades and stages of cancer. Some of it tells us how we might expect to feel and gives us suggestions for what to do about emotions like worry, anxiety, fear, and sadness. All of this is useful. It is important that we understand what has happened, what is coming and how we might deal with that.

Some people though, would like some extra or different support as they go through diagnosis and treatment and all the changes that come with it. Others might like some help to make sense of a different future to that which was previously imagined. To be supported in a way that comes with no judgement and no expectations. Support that helps you to find your own way. That allows you to express and acknowledge any difficult emotions you might be feeling, as well as emotions that support and nourish you, like hope and gratitude.

That’s what I aim to provide through counselling. A space to think, to use your own language, to feel and say whatever you like. To create your own path through in a way that best suits you.
